Over 2500 young Canadians
participate in a structured program of health-oriented training,
self-development and fun through St. John Ambulance's Youth Services.
The goals of the program are
to provide learning and volunteering opportunities to youth between the
ages of 9 - 17. We accomplish this by providing First Aid Training,
Social Development activities, and various proficiencies such as
"Knowledge & Care of Animals" and "Babysitting" & " Camping
Skills". Additionally there are opportunities to volunteer in our
community with St. John Ambulance adult volunteers.
Youth night in
Kitchener-Waterloo is every Tuesday night from 6:30 pm until about 8:30
pm.
To join the program, parents
should first contact the office and arrange for an informational
interview with the community services coordinator. The program
coordinator, a St. John Ambulance volunteer, will then interview the
youth applicant. Upon acceptance into the program the required forms
including an application form must be completed and submitted to the
program coordinator.
New applicants accepted into
the program will receive an orientation to the program in a group or
individual setting. As well as further explanation of the program
content, policies and procedures will be discussed in detail. A
standard uniform is required and attendance is taken every week.
Thousands help grow their
communities volunteering for St. John Ambulance. Young people are
encouraged to join the St. John family by becoming a member of our
fabulous Youth Program. Contact our office today for more information
on how to become involved in this popular program.
